Now I'm pledged at £114 anyway, I'm seriously thinking about going up to commodore level, and getting loads of stuff. I'd probably then be selling everything non-Shaltari. Unless I went mental and decided to have two fleets.

Dunno, if I do that it'll be a last minute thing, may depend on how far it gets on other unlocks.

You have your choice of add-on starters, so I guess I'd take two Shaltari. I'd also have the two-player starter.

A few of the things I'm planning to pay for are free to high rank backers, so I'd be getting them.

Hypothetically, would you be interested in buying the UCM Atlantis (the extra battlecruiser that I think only high rank backers get) if I did that?

Would anyone else, planning to buy a battlecruiser, be prepared to buy it from me instead for the same price? If so, it starts to make more sense to do the high rank one.

From what I've be been reading, you'd probably have everything you'd need for a full sized game in one go.

What will you do with the starter set? Sell the armies?

I'm still tempted by a Battlecruiser, so if it helps, I'll get one through you.

Not at all sure about the commodore thing. I think I'm just keen to not miss a deal, but I don't want to be stuck with bits I can't sell for a decent price later. Hmmm.

That's been the source of my dithering, not wanting to miss a deal balanced against not wanting to get sucked in to over-spending.

I would say don't bank on me upgrading. If it shoots up and there's more high rank backer stuff around I might do if at the last minute. But if you want a battle cruiser it's probably best to pledge for it yourself.

The freebies high rank backers get are partly things I'd be paying for, but some of them would just be things to sell, and I'd just have loads of the starter ships.

As it stands though, your likely to end up with a Battlecruiser, 7 Cruisers, 4 Frigates (with potentially another 16 Frigates if the bonanza unlocks). You should have enough to be going on with, and to feel like you got a bargain.

I'll also have the space station, liner, and probably the resin clusters... More than I can ever paint...

News on the Shaltari and how they cheat:
 - the can teleport ground troops from their mothership to the planet via voidgates and back again, making it easier for them to move forces around
 - they have longer range than other ships
 - all ships have a 5+ passive save
 - this can be raised to 4+ if they raise shields, which also gives them the ability to save against critical hits (something other ships can't do)
 - they have particle lances which automatically do critical hits, and three damage per hit if they don't  have their shields raised, which allows three of them on one ship to one-shot most Scourge cruisers.

I know they said that anything bought on the KS will be saving on retail, but it can't be more than the 20% off that the Outpost will no doubt offer. With this in mind I'm not adding anything else to my pledge, except some maps which will be helpful from the start!

Well the battlecruiser is an exclusive. But you may well be right on the other stuff. On the other hand, MOAR STUFF SOONER.

I think the civilian cruiser is KS only too.

Only £19k away from more free frigates as well. Still not sure we'll reach that one though.

That would lead to an almost silly amount of Frigates. Almost. Nothing free is ever totally silly.

You say that, but it would probably, I think, just about, give us all a fleet at around 1500 points. Maybe a bit higher. Probably not optimum fleets, but a good base and enough to give us some choices when playing.

Also there are apparently 4 variants of frigates for each race, so you could build different configurations and have those available to choose, alongside whatever other stuff we eventually want to get at retail.

It's at 490k now, and they've added stretch goals all the way up to 600k!

They have. I officially eat my "it won't reach £500k" hat.

I've already eaten the "we won't reach 3000 backers" one, so this will be a sort of dessert.

By the way, the scourge add-on for the space station does look nice. Not one I'm going to get as I want my space station to be as generic as possible, but I do like it.
