Dropzone Commander!

No, had 997, forgot you'd not painted enough...

Things I've learned from reading the rules:

1) the core mechanics are really simple
2) UCM seem to be the 'vanilla', Jack of all trades army
3) Scourge are fast and brutal
4) PHR are slow, tough and shoots
5) Shaltari have cheaty movement rules
6) Resistance are the only army that have vehicles with no active countermeasures!

Never noticed that about the countermeasures! It's only on the small stuff though, and they are cheap as chips

Well, the peer pressure didn't take long.

Bought the rulebook at lunchtime. No shaltari starter sets in stock at the Outpost so I've ordered one. I even have a colour scheme ready in my mind.

Talking to the chap behind the counter suggests that the order might take a while though, sounds like they're waiting for Hawk Wargames to actually make some more...

I've already bought it! I've paid for the order through Outpost already, so I'll wait for that. They've got two weeks until I start moaning - it says "4-14 days" on their website.

Can't do much before then anyway, since I'm away next week.

There's a load of downloadable scenery on there, certainly ideal for Wes's Gaming Palace as there's roads and buildings galore. Only drawback being I think you need an A3 printer.

Dunno if its any good for you too Kieron? What with being painfully tight (there's a "your mum" joke somewhere there I'm sure)

At the moment I'm just going to add slowly to my DZC stuff. I've not even had a game yet. I do plan to create some non-office block buildings though.

You'll all be pleased to know I've ordered the ruinscape set! This gives us another 20 buildings and means we can do 4'x4' 4 player games, or have 2 3'x4' games going on at the same time. Or team up and have a big 6'x4' game!

Well it turns out that Pete sucks at Dropzone Commander..

2 games and 2 wins to me. The Resistance have a filthy ability to destroy enemy dropships on turn one, and having 3 squads of 2 stands of infantry offers good tactical flexibility. Crap at destroying enemy armour though.

Yeah yeah yeah! Its very interesting how different each army plays, strengths and weaknesses.

You all need to crack on with painting and buying!
