I'm considering getting some bases for Kings of War at Partizan.
Before I do that, it's probably sensible for us to agree what we're going to do with KoW bases. The unit sizes listed in the rules are a multiple of single bases, that I think are the same size as warhammer ones generally.
So a troop of 10 infantry is on a 100x40mm base, as that's a 5x2 block of 20mm square bases.
I'm planning to put my units onto scenic bases, and not stick to the full number of models on each base, since it's only the size that matters. So, I could use bases that are exactly that size.
I don't think everyone is planning on doing that though, so would probably want to use movement trays, which will be slightly bigger (something like an extra 2-3mm on each side, so a total of about half a centimetre wider and deeper). I might also start with movement trays and transition stuff across to scenic bases.
So before I get some bases to put units onto, can we all agree that we'll use movement trays, so the units will be slightly larger than the rules say they should be, but we'll count the full width and depth of the movement tray when we play? That way we'll all be free to base units however we like, and we don't have to try to account for "these two units are in contact but not really, because of the edge of the movement trays" stuff.
Yes? Everyone say yes.
