That's pretty much what we've said we'll do. If you look on my blog or Kieron's you can see ours so far.

So how many units of what do we need before we can start playing?

A command stand and a couple of regiments and you're good to go. Brigades went from two to maybe six regiments of varying sizes. If you've not done skirmishers yet, just don't move into skirmish formation.

I'll have done a unit and 2 bases worth of skirmishes by this time tomorrow I think. Just need to wait for the bases and flags to arrive!

Does it matter how many models are on a command base?
And I'm guessing you need more skirmish bases than normal units?

Generally, one skirmish base per regiment is more than enough. Most of the time you'll remain in formation, but having enough bases to take up mixed formation with the whole brigade could be useful to protect your line.

I've done two models on a command base for brigade commanders, and three for the overall commander.

Cool. Are cavalry on the same size base? I'm guessing as these come in strips of 3 there will be 9 on a base? Or 12?

And artillery will be on 30x30?

I was going to all of them, including artillery, on 30x60 - just use two guns on a base for the artillery. Others may disagree about that though.

All the example armies have the artillery on a smaller base. How come you want to put them on 60x30?

Cos then I don't need different bases - they're going to represent a battery anyway, and you don't take models off as casualties. So they're going to cover that space anyway, most likely, so why not put them on one base?

I'm not married to the idea though, and I don't have any artillery yet anyway.

One thing about cavalry, you want them in line formation and not column. For confederates you could also be a bit more creative with positioning, similar to impetus basing.
