In a similar vein, from the Kings of War rules committee...
So as you've all heard, the RC have been working hard at a pack of tournament tweaks intended to tone down some of the troublesome aspects that have cropped up since release. Today we're going to share our current draft with you
Special Rules
- While Disordered, units lose Fly. Note that this also means they lose Nimble too, unless they have it regardless of Fly (such as Individuals).
Scenarios
- Dominate - Units with the Individual special rule that are within the central area are now only worth half their point value (rounding up to the nearest 5) when it comes to determining your score.
- Invade - Units with the Individual special rule that are within your opponent's half of the board are now only worth half their point value (rounding up to the nearest 5) when it comes to determining your score.
- Pillage – only Flyers are now able to control Pillage markers.
- Loot - While in possession of a loot counter, Units lose the use of both the Nimble and Fly special rules.
- Kill – if, during your movement phase, you pretend to ride a horse then your units gain +1 speed for the duration of the turn. If your opponent claps two coconuts together while you are doing this then you do not get the bonus.
Minimum Model Counts
Infantry Horde units must contain at least 80 models in order to be legal.
Spells
Bane Chant – Bane-chant now requires two hits from the same cast in order to grant or improve Piercing.
Allies
Allies may only be brought if the controlling player first carries out a one-person play depicting the initial contract negotiations between their core force and allies. The play is only valid if it contains at least three distinct voices.
Terrain
Hills should always be at least Height 7.
Unit Changes
Cursed Pharaoh – Defence decreased to 5+
Ahmunite Pharaoh – Defence increased to 7+
Any chariot units (any with the word chariot in their name) have their Speed reduced by 1.
Mhorgoth's Touch of Darkness upgrade now applies to a single terrain feature, which increases its Height by 1.
Force Composition
Kingdoms of Men – KoM armies always receive a free General on Winged Beast unit.
Orcs – All non-Orcling units are considered Irregular and only Orclings are not.
Players may only bring units with the Fly special rule if they have no units with Ranged Attacks (excluding spells).
All armies must bring at least one unit of Ogre Shooters as allies. These must be given the Kaba’s Holy Hand Grenades artefact. They may not use their Heavy Crossbows and can only use the ranged attack granted by the artefact.
Core Rules
- Line of Sight: Disregard the current Line of Sight rules and instead use “True Line of Sight”. Whenever you need to determine if a unit can see another, simply bend down to have a look from the models perspective. If they can physically see the target then they are considered to be able to see in-game.
