I've only clicked the link and I already don't get it. Are they prebuilt lists or something?

There are different selectors available for each force. This is a Bolt Action thing - you use a different army list if you're doing, for example, French forces during the Battle of France rather than the Vichy French forces in North Africa, so there are different selectors for each. So there's not a single Japanese list, there are several you can choose from.

The Easy Army site lets you pick one of those selectors, then choose the units you're going to use for each, and it works out points costs and stuff for you.

In almost all cases, you need to take an officer and 2 infantry teams before you're able to take other stuff, and you're limited on the other stuff you can take.

If you have a look at the PDF Japanese list it might make more sense. This isn't the full army book, but it will give you an idea how to build a small force.

So you're going straight in for the "novelty one trick pony army" like your gutter runners etc!

If you do them on bikes you still need the normal infantry models for when they dismount

Blinking heck! The cavalry are fun. They get three attacks each in close combat, with an 18" charge range!

Two floors of it! It's beautiful. Even comes with a sign on a chain to hang from the upper story. Need a name for it though...

Because Matt seems rather excited for it, here's what's happened so far...

There's a little more progress roundnthe back, as I've started basecoating the stone. Hopefully more to add tonight.

I've been watching this on your "possibly not really a blog sort of thing" blog thing.

It looks very nice!

How do you do the bits between the beams? Is it progressively blending lighter shades into the middle or something more straightforward?

I bought an evil empire drybrush paint, and swirled my brush FOREVER. Seems to be working though! And thanks, I'm enjoying getting it done Smile

Ah, so it's drybrushing in circles? Wouldn't have thought of that.

The little tower thing looks very frostgravy.
