Just a thought in terms of doing this slightly cheaper.

In Wargames Illustrated 320 there are full rules for using ACW Guerillas in DMH, including what's on their picture cards. Although they have options for muskets, the Jayhawkers (Union) are allowed to have repeating rifles instead. This would make them work as a poor man's US Cavalry.

The only down side is that they have the mounted rule which allows them to have horses (twice as many models to paint in the long run.

Definitely cheaper than buying the expansion rules in the short term, and if I like the game I could upgrade to the cavalry in the expansion at a later date.

The Old Buzzard

Dead Mans Hand is an excellent game.
The major expense is the excellent scenery produced by 4ground. But you can buy them cheaper or make your own.
I have seen some that have "CornFlakes" written on the inside Exclamation Exclamation
Looks like I need to buy WI 320.
