Feels odd....

Sure this is a feeling not many cool guys like us get to know very often.

I don't have anything left to paint for my bolt action Germans. Weird.

Buy more?

Start on British? Want a Daimler Dingo?

Paint your Impetus army?

Paint some FOW German infantry?

Buy a Napoleonic army?

Buy Dead Man's Hand and paint cowboys?

The possibilities are endless...

Plan is thus:

1. Get flames of war british army legal and playable.
2. Paint more of impetus.
3. Buy squad of SS and a few more infantry for bolt action.

These will all be done a couple of bits from each at a time to keep it interesting!

Wes and I were discussing the dead mans hand thing, think he wanted to get to 1000 points with his americans first, could be a good winter project we could all do at the same time?

I agree on that. I've currently got the following to do list:

Finish last eight Russians.

Paint Impetus army.

Paint 1812 Napoleonics (including injuns which will/might work for DMH)

Paint more Marvek superheroes and decide on which rules I'm going to use

Paint a few more Batman models and play some games

Paint more zombies and survivors and play some games

Resist fads

...not necessarily in that order

Oh and paint the scenery I've got.

Oh and:

Well, once I've painted my 27 or so remaining Americans and a Machine Gun group, then I intend to buy into some Dead Mans Hand. That might be winter might be a bit earlier. I'd be tempted to wait for the Derby show in October and get one of the deals from there. Flames of war seems a bit 'samey' to bolt action, at least in painting terms. Impetus is Romans and the like, right? That interests me, what faction/nation would be good for me to pick there?

Oh and are 'Marvek' superheroes a Russian equivalent? 'In Soviet Union, Hulk smashes you!'. Sorry, I've had a beer.

Impetus is 15mm, I have Carthaginians, Matt has Romans, and I think Kieron has Macedonians. Can't remember which period we based it round. Theres a "Into impetus" thread further down that might help.

But yes, I think Derby in october would be good to start Dead Mans Hand!

Thats where I started. It looks more complicated than it is. And the army i use is from Volume 5.

Spartacus and the slave revolt are suitable l for what we've got. They fought against the Romans towards the end of the Republic. Technically, the Roman army had changed a little from what Matt has, and as you say, the Punic Wars were some time in the past.

However, they were no technological leaps in that time and there were many slave revolts and local uprisings other than Spartacus. Pete's Carthaginans fought the Mercenary wars and also had slaves, and probably revolts, it's just that their history is less well recorded. The same is certainly true of my Sicillian Greeks.

Historically, the only armies which would be geographically and chronologically more suited to what we have would be:
Numidians - lots of light cavalry
Iberians - light infantry and slightly heavier cavalry
Gauls - chaaarrrrrgggeee!
Pyhrrus' Army - pikes, mercenaries and elephants

I've always fancied having a gaul army. Only problem is that I'd have to paint it, and it's a horde of barbarians... If we got back into Impetus I might get a block of them as auxiliaries for my Romans though.

Favourite bit of Impetus armies is making the baggage bit!

I'm mainly driven by the nice stuff you can get to make a baggage marker. Maybe I should just make one of those.
