This is for Kieron really but someone else may care I suppose.

I finally checked the rules, in case you were wondering - you're meant to aim for a third of a unit going ahead as skirmishers if adopting mixed formation, so I'll base mine for that.

I'm going to put things together assuming about 24-30 men of a standard unit, as the book says, but we could easily use fewer models per unit when we play.

The new wargames illustrated is full of franco-prussian stuff but I still can't get myself interested in Napoleonic stuff!

That seems fine. I was always aiming for smaller units for my Americans as the units in the War of 1812 were much smaller. But it's easy enough to build bigger units and split them as needed.

Your 8 Rifles will constitute a Tiny regiment in game terms, but that's not a problem for Skirmishers.

If I get a command group for them at some point they could bump up to small.
