Games we can play on part of Pete's table

Kieron and I whiled away many happy hours of driving last weekend by talking a load of nonsense about wanting to do a few more two-player games - we have a tendency to play three- or four-player things by default which crowds out the chance to do traditional wargames.

We thought this might be because we tend not to organise very far in ahead.

So! I'm going to suggest some games that I'd like to play that would allow some part of Pete's eight-foot length table free for others to do something else. If other people do the same, we could figure out some combinations that could work, so I could get beaten at things individually, rather than as part of a team.

My suggestions at the moment are:
  • Terminator - I can provide both sides for a small game, which only needs 3'x2', so with the board lengthways there'd still be 6' available.
  • Flames of War - would need 6' (and someone prepared to play against me, which might be difficult)
  • Bolt Action - would also need 6'

Any takers?

Fow and bolt action don't necessarily need 6 foot, you could play a smaller game on 4 or 5 foot. But yes, I agree.

One of the problems is that we put a thread on here about a night and some people don't reply until late meaning it's hard to plan.

Yes. So my idea was that if we listed a few things we might like to do, then we could pick them in advance, if you see what I mean. Then we don't need to wait until we know exactly what's going on.

So, for example, the two of us agree to play Bolt Action on a 6' board, leaving 2' left. If there are some games listed that only need 2', Kieron and Wes could pick one and play it. If only one of them is available, they can spectate, or plead for some sort of three-player backup plan.

The other issue with that is either fifth-wheel issues (generally me or Wes) or just the fact that you lot have already decided what you're playing at the end of the previous night's session.

But on topic:

KoWH - another bonus of the 6mm scale we chose for the new object is that 4' can still host a fairly large game. I want to get this started.

KoW - 1k works nice and quickly on 4' with no issues. I like this system. And I have a free army if Wes wants it...

Terminator - I liked the little we played of this, and am happy to add my few bits to Matt if any ody wants to escalate the scale a bit.

Bloodbowl - its bloody good, even just as a pick up.

Frostgrave/Cutlass/7TV - all skirmish games, none need a big board and if there's interest then I'll finish my Pirate crews to demo Cutlass. And Pete can get his Marines done.

There's more, as I bought Warpath so I want to play that, and Saga doesn't need a board the size of Hull so it's up to you guys really.

Games I'm after mainly at the moment are:

Walking Dead - it actually set up for a 2x2 board and is easy to learn so it's definitely suitable for the end of the table. It can also be played cooperatively with three players, so might solve fifth wheel issues.

7TV - suits anything from 2x2 to 4x4.

Terminator - seeing as I now own it, I might as well play it.

Batman/Marvel/DC - might as well ask...

Other games I'm up for:
Dropfleet/Dropzone - mainly to encourage me to paint stuff.

KoW - Fantasy, Hostorical and happy to give Warpath a go.

Not overly keen about FoW/Bolt Action, but I know I'll enjoy the games if I play them.

Also willing to give most other games a try.
