Is it any good?

How much stuff have you got? What is it? What are you planning to get?

If I was to get involved would it need to be in theatre, in period, and so forth?

I've been considering B.E.F. as it would fit with my VBCW stuff. Would EW Brits be horribly outgunned by LW Germans?

I will lend you the rulebook on Saturday and explain how it works then.

I really like it, plays well.

I have about 350 points at the moment but the standard game size is based on 1000.

I've got russians, not planning to get any more immediately, but would maybe want a truck or something. We've found that the scenarios tend to need you to get across the board quickly so having only infantry is a bit of a disadvantage.

To be honest, I think its the small game size we're playing as well but I do agree. That's why I bought the kubelwagon, also so we see how vehicles work

I have LW Germans and am currently painting LW Russians.
EW Brits would struggle, the automatic weapons make a difference.
But you could beef them up with a few figures. Buy a Commando platoon. Get them into combat and Ugh!
Small pieces of artillery can be game changers. Once a mortar has ranged in, if no one moves, then they are hitting on 2's!

Any chance of you coming round to Pete's at some point to show us how to play it properly Bill?

We could sort this out for after the Derby weekend as I should have more 28mm terrain by then?

Pete lives in Aston.

After Derby sounds good!

I've stumbled across a Bolt Action army list for VBCW. It looks to be pretty well put together. So it seems that I do have a BA army.

Matt, I'll forward it to you.

Now I have to work out what I've got for that.

I had a quick skim, although didn't go to the end - does it allow for wacky vehicles?

Wacky vehicles?! Who do you think you are, Penelope Pitstop?!

To some extent. A light tank with a turret mounted hmg and the rules unreliable and slow seem to fit for the Wortley Dragon. It would also use wheeled movement rather than tracked.

The HAMMER is a bit stuck. Maybe I could count the turret bit as a loudhailer if I stick an officer in it, or just as an open-topped vehicle.

Actually, thinking about it, using it as open-topped is fine, I just put a sniper in it and his line of sight will be higher, but the vehicle is also easier to see.

I see. Its like that. I can see this escalating quite quickly.

At least I have an excuse to buy a Panzer IV now!

There is an AT rifle in the Warlord box of plastics.

Is the gun a Zis 2 or 3 or the earlier model?

No idea. It's a bundle from eBay. Will work it out when it gets here.

There's 40 Russians in the box so some of the may find their way into the B.U.F. In South Yorkshire. They could do with a few lmg's to combat MG Matton and his authentic interwar forces.

Russians always get a free squad of 10 men to start with. Its one of there special rules. Then you need at least 2 other squads for a legal army.

To be honest, I'm going to leave the T-34 and the AT gun until I've done 500 points. It'll make the jump to 1000 points easier. So don't worry too much. Just saw it as a bargain and jumped at it.
