I'm surprised by this myself, but Knight Models have announced this:

We are glad to announce our newest brand game! Marvel Universe Miniature Game! Marvel Universe Miniature Game is a completely new game system, based on the entire Marvel Universe! Soon you'll be able to join your favorite superhero groups and factions, and embark into an amazing miniature game.

The first release will include 3 faction starter sets, X-Men, Avengers, and Guardians of the Galaxy, where you'll find everything you need to play, including a small-sized rulebook, 4 character cards, and 4 incredibly detailed white-metal miniatures representing your favorite superheroes!

You'll find MU Miniature Game on your favorite Friendly Local Gaming Store!

Stay tuned for more news about MARVEL UNIVERSE MINIATURE GAME!

I know, I know, no new games etc.

It sounds like a different game from BMG and clearly they're doing it differently with putting the rules in with the starter sets.

I won't buy into it on the same scale as BMG, or possibly not at all, but depending on the game it could be fun. I already have a board. Smile

A bit more info:

Looks like it's going to be sort of the same but use a D8 mechanic, with more comic based scenarios.

So, from the tumbleweed blowing through this thread, I think I know the answer, is there any chance y'all could be tempted into this game?

1. It's a different mechanic to BMG, so we'd all be learning together.
2. There are currently only three factions: Avengers, X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy, but that is likely to grow.
3. There's a reduced price for preorders, but I think Outpost will be about the same price.
4. Marvel fights really can happen anywhere, so there's no need to buy terrain.
5. The models are pretty and fun to paint.
6. I think the Spider-Man stuff will get rules at some point.
7. As well as the models above, they've released Black Panther, Deadpool and Nova.

The reason I ask, is that I'm tempted by the Avengers, but I'm worried that they won't get used.

The starters are currently £30 and include a mini rulebook. Outpost have them for £28. That's pretty good for four models they've previously been selling for £12 each. I suspect I'm going to crumble for the Avengers.

Here's a review by someone who isn't part of the KM marketing team.

It seems like it might be simpler that BMG. Even though I have the other Marvel stuff I've been painting, I think I'm going see if I can pick up an Avengers starter this weekend and repaint my Hulk/Solomon Grundy model that I don't really use.

I'll be able to use stuff I already have to do demos if anyone is interested.

Fun fact: JP and Stu have picked up the X-Men and Guardians and Craig is wavering,so I might actually get a game! Smile

Have bought Avengers and read rules. They seem much more straightforward than BMG with less fiddly bits (except for throwing and destroying terrain - but that will become clearer in play) and more of the rules on the cards.
