Rather than hijack Matt's thread, I thought I'd start a separate one.

If I was to run something as well at some point, what might folk be interested in? I have the following rules:

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay - three different editions (2nd would be my pick as 3rd would always need to be at my house due to the quantity of bits), I have adventures aplenty for it.

The One Ring - Lord of the Rings, I've only run this once and I like the system, but there's a definite Tolkein feel to it that fights against the usual 'kill them and take their stuff' fantasy.

Edge of Empire - it's a Star Wars game by Fantasy Flight, the mechanics are not a million miles away from Imperial Assault. Matt might need to tolerate a re-run of the starter adventure.

Marvel Heroic Roleplay - Superheroes. I genuinely love this system, and think it's brilliant for the narrative style of gaming I prefer (as opposed to mechanical rules like Savage Worlds), and it would be my first choice, but rpg's that the players aren't interested in don't really work, so I don't want to force it on anybody.

I also have Savage Worlds, Paranoia and a Horror Game, but I'm not really into running them at the moment for a variety of reasons. Paranoia works best once a group has roleplayed together for a while as it de-constructs many of the assumptions that come with regular roleplaying.

I'd be ok with playing any of those. Marvel supers is indeed a good system, if slightly hard to initially get your head around.

However, of the four you've highlighted, WFRP 2nd edition is my favourite by a country mile. If you did anything like the campaign you ran for the last group, I don't even think Wes' lack of familiarity with the world would be a problem, as none of the characters had a clue what was going on either.

One Ring - felt like there was potentially more there, but I wonder if it's a bit heavy for a semi-beginner group.

Star Wars - I'm just not that into Star Wars. I'll play it if that's what the group want though, and wouldn't mind re-doing the starter.

Following the chat we had last night, and the generally decent response, I think I'd like to run the Marvel game. I appreciate that we'd be doing Matt's FF stuff first, but I like to plot and plan, so I'd like to know the answers to a couple of questions:

1) Mike, is this something that you'd be interested in?
2) Matt, would you have any objections to going through the Breakout again if I promise to make it different from last time?
3) What characters would you like to play?

In terms of characters, the game assumes that you play somebody from the Marvel universe, but don't worry about knowing everything - having seen the movies is enough. However, it's best to pick a character you're familiar with as they're easier to play. Pick any hero you like - even if there isn't a character sheet already made, I can knock one up for you.

Bagsy Iron Man again!

No problem with re-doing that mission. I can barely remember what happened anyway, other than something about a rowing boat.

The rowing boat wasn't a key feature.

Pretty sure it was central to the plot.

I mean there was some other nonsense, but the rowing boat is what stands out in the mind.

IIt wasn't even you on the boat. It was the only way to get Wolverine to where the action was. I had to put it right in front of him because he certainly wasn't going to think of a way around the problem.

Oh and I've changed the thread title to avoid confusion.

Should change it to "Rowing Boats - the RPG" for more accuracy.
