You could fantasy it up? Involve some giant eagles and wolves and stuff. Then it's a roman-ish army with fantasy stuff.

As well as the eagles and wolves theme, you could throw in some gladiators, or even camel riders (which are historical).

The Romans easily fit as coming from Remas - one of the Tilean city states. Greek Hoplites are an isolated colony of High Elves. Smile

I seem to remember Warlord do some Roman camel riders (dromedarii? Something like that).

The point being, an Eastern Imperial Roman army is pretty much a fantasy army. You even get artillery.

Go on. You know you want to...

So after all this, Pete convinced me to by the non-movement-tray version anyway. I can always put those into movement trays if I need to later on though...

Unless im being an utter spaz (always a possibility) i take it that means you bought regiment sized bases to group mount everything?

Well, they are 100mm x 40mm. So small unit sized. But you just put 2 together to form a bigger unit

Yeah, the bases I have are "troop" sized, and I'll group mount things. The other sizes are multiples of the "troop" size, so as Pete says I can link them. I might also get some movement trays so I can use stuff before it's group mounted, and use the trays to connect bigger units.

Hmm. Been thinking about this. Might rebase my dwarfs. They were only on goblin green bases anyway so it might be a new project. Was leaving them on individual bases in case we got back into Warhammer but as they've ended it, that won't happen!

It's a good idea. You could also hold a few back and rebase them on posh resin ones for skirmish gaming.

Initially I'm going to cut my own bases rather than buy them. I've got suitable materials knocking about.

I think for £1.75 for 7 it's not worth fannying about!

Good point about the skirmish thing though

That seems sensible, and I might do the same. Although I do have useable hardboard I might experiment with, they are about the right depth and would just need trimming, I need to measure them though.
