This looks interesting: http://www.warlordgames.com/bolt-action-summer-offensive-war-is-coming

Basically you sign up, then register games you play over the next six weeks. There'll be special rules and stuff. Also maps! Everyone likes maps.

Looks interesting.

The only potential issue I see is that with your newfound love of all things Gallic, having to register as Axis or Allies means we'll all be lining up to play Pete, unless you use your not-quite German list, which might have issues early in the campaign (depending on how restrictive they are).

I have my box of Grenadiers, but there's no way I'll make any progress on them this month.

I find you offensive all year round! This may go the way of the FOW campaign where I'm the only one with a German army....

I suspect they won't be that restrictive, and I wonder if you can register for both sides. Will have a look when it's live - if we only play one game, it counts and we'll see it affect the results of the whole thing ever so slightly.

I suppose my BUF could take the field again as SS units. I might be able to put some of the Grenadiers together and get them painted in time to field something, perhaps if I borrow a couple of bits and pieces. It might give me the impetus to get them done quickly.

I'd have to abandon this month's painting plan though, which is no bad thing as the Indians aren't really inspiring me.

Hmmm...I think about it.

I've spotted something in the Ostfront book that would allow me to field a decent sized force of 'Germans' quite quickly. So I suppose I could register as Axis and strive to get some of my Grenadiers done fairly quickly to swap out the BUF asap.

The only proviso is that my plan requires my opponent's permission, which I'm going to assume I'd get. Smile

It might involve captured tanks, enemy uniforms and some filthy special rules...

Ah. Even i decided they were too bent to put in my army!

But, with enemy uniforms and the optional rules allowing captured tanks, I can get a decent sized force on the table fairly quickly. Even if I didn't use my BUF, I'd just need to paint an officer and one unit to get playing.

I know I'm as changeable as the wind, but having thought on this, I'm not going to rush my Germans. I want to do a good job with them. Also I don't want to give up on the Indians so easily.

I will register for the campaign with the Soviets, but if that means less games that's fine.

Pete, we should be able to squeeze a couple of games in midweek over the summer if you want.

This is a vaguely relevant thread.

I've ordered the Germany Strikes book, so Pete! We should do the campaign thing from in there!

I think that there are particular scenarios to play each week.

Anyway, I've registered with my Soviets. My username (which you might need after beating me) is 'Ticklikov' and my army is the 76th Guards Mechanised Regiment.

I'm crippled with doubt!

Should I sign up as French or Germans (using the volkssturm)?

Can I come up with a similarly amusing name?

I feel there may only be us 2 playing bolt action for a while after the other day...

17 Re: Bolt Action summer offensive on Tue Jul 21, 2015 1:58 am

That's true. In which case I should register as Allies.

Not that I couldn't register twice anyway...

Register twice.

As Germans you could be Hans Zupp. As the French you could be Reddition Singe...

Surrender monkey, is that supposed to be? That's funny.

Not quite as funny as your attempt to defeat the French, mind...

lol!

I wasn't trying to defeat the French, actually. By the point that I rolled those ones, we were playing for a draw because Wes had failed so badly to do everything. I didn't fail to beat the French, I failed to bail out the Americans...it's different.

At least I've drawn against the French. You're record now is "Lost 100%".

Nope. Only lost 50% on that one. 50% was to the Germans.

Although technically, as I was allied to the Americans, I should only count 50% of the total loss, so I've only lost 25% of my games to the French. Which means, statistically, that I've a 75% win ratio against them. Smile

23 Re: Bolt Action summer offensive on Tue Jul 21, 2015 10:16 am

But it was Matts armoured car that took the objective. If anything I was hampered by being teamed up with the cheese eating surrender monkey, so therefore your loss rate is actually 5000%.

Look, if you're just going to be silly with statistics, there's no point talking about any of this...

Statistics never lie and only 12% of them are made up 47% of the time....
