Should I base my vehicles?

Controversial, I know.

I'm thinking about my Bolt Action French (so two fairly small vehicles), and my Shaltari (at the moment 6 vehicles but probably more later).

The reason to think of basing them is that it would allow me to put magnetic tape underneath and transport them more easily along with the rest of each force. I also think it might tie the French vehicles into the force a bit more.

On the other hand, it's more work to do on an army that otherwise is nearly finished, and it will look a bit odd when the vehicles move onto other terrain (but then that's true of all the infantry anyway).

Thoughts?

Personally don't like it. That's why I've never bought any forged in battle models. Just think it looks wrong!

No to Bolt Action. Possibly yes to Shaltari.

The Bolt Action vehicles, unless they're really small, just look weird with bases. Think about Flames of War - this would be worse. Also, your vehicles are tied in by being in the same camo as each other. When the you add the Panhard and Medium Howitzer it'll be even more unified.

Basin the Shaltari tanks allows you to base them so they're properly hovering, rather than sitting on the floor, and as you don't have to put them in a toast rack like Mike does, basing them will have no down side.

Not generally a fan, but they aren't my models so that doesn't really matter. You WILL end up with a load of vehicles for your Shaltari though so keep it simple if you do. And that also raises the issue of basing flyers then, would you or no?

And I'm still contemplating the Doom Fridge for my Hunters and Reapers. Just wish it looked nicer!

This certainly describes my French vehicles.

I've had a cunning idea for how to store them in my magnetic box without basing them though, so I'll see if that works.

Well if I'm doing it to store them magnetically, I probably would.

It's more work for the DzC force though, and that might be a better candidate for going in foam.
