Looks a lot like a mix of Dropzone Commander and Imperial Assault to me, everything you need is in the box and you don't have to paint nuttin' unless you want to.

I'd give it a go, though you lot would get John Conner killed, and you'd moan that Arnie was gonna show up every-time.

Matt was telling me about that offer last night. But I'd end up spending more on the models that I want to get hold of a sprue I'm not massively fussed about.

Hmmm. I've just noticed that the rulebook for this is now available separately. Might be one I pick up at some point.

Although, for non-future Terminator shenanigans, 7TV might be a better bet anyway. Possibly.

I can knock up a scenario for that Matt. Would just need model were were happy with for the Terminator. We should do that.

So I've pondered this a bit more.

It strikes me that all the stuff that happens in the first film is a bit crap for a game unless you can make it about trying to escape. Apart from the very end, the T-800 is indestructible, and strolls through a police station being shot multiple times but barely even slows down. I suppose the police station bit might be some sort of game - throw enough police at him to allow the heroes to get away.

However! In T2 (which is one of the best films ever made despite the lunacy being espoused by Mike earlier in this thread), there are actual fights between the T-800 and T-1000, and although the T-1000 always gets back up, it can be temporarily dismantled and have to rebuild itself.

So! T2 seems like a better bet for some sort of game. Which means the antagonist is a T-1000. Which means, as Pete pointed out earlier in this thread, it can be any model...

All good points. Actually I reckon we could easily throw together a Sarah Connor, John Connor or even Kyle Reese from the WF Survivors. Not as sure about Arnie, but if we didn't want to use something we already have, Reaper have a not-Arnie in their Chronoscope line, and they've done a Bones version which is dirt cheap.

As you say T-1000 is easily done, although it might be nice to convert something with a blade arm.

Well, which versions of the characters do we cover, or do we even go down the T3 route and do some other Skynet assassination targets?

I'll have a look at the not-Arnie model. I can't say I'm actually that impressed with the Warlord ones - although I do like their plastic endoskeletons.

Hmmm, can't find anything by Reaper that looks Arnie-like to me. There's "Rex", but he looks to me more like a potential Kyle Reese if anything.

I saw him as Arnie-ish with the right paint job. The Reaper casts are taller than the WF stuff.

There's this guy from Studio Miniatures.

Shall we aim to play the police station scene from T1 initially. We have cops and would simply need Sarah, Kyle and the T-800. It would be an easy way to start in terms of statting things up.

The T-800 would be a villainous Otherworldly Invader star (maxed out with upgrades), Kyle and Sarah as heroic co-stars (probably Strongarm and Plucky Assistant) with enough cops (Security Guards) to balance up the points.

Wes has a printed out Police Station map.

If only I'd got that flatbed truck so Arnie could drive it through a wall!

Yeah, I'd seen him, I'd have to see a physical one. In the picture he looks pretty skinny to be an Austrian bodybuilder.

The studio metal castings always seem to have massive heads to me.

Studio are at Fiasco in Leeds this weekend.

That's not a bad idea. Think that's actually meant to be Hellboy!

However this conversation has prompted me to put the DVD on and I can report that any model we want to use will need about 200% more hair moulding onto it...

Isn't meant to be Marv from Sin City?

Anyway. During this week I'll put a couple of models together for Kyle and Sarah and knock some stats up.

Ah, you may be right. I think there is a Hellboy there somewhere though.

Having just watched the police station scene again, there is enough there for a game. Arnie shoots some cops, then kills the lights before shooting more cops and is just too late to catch Reese and Sarah. The two detectives try assault rifles on him, so there's a couple of characters with better weapons.

The studio model is obviously meant to be that scene - he's dressed and armed in exactly the right way. He's just so puny though! They've also given him spiky hair one film too early.

So! Having finally got round to playing this it seems like a really enjoyable game!

Played the first two missions in the mini rulebook last night with Other Pete, and we both really liked it. It runs with an activation system which is.somewhere between 7TV2 and DzC, with the added bonus of attacks also being able to disrupt your opponents further activations. It uses various sizes of dice, on the idea that the better you are or the more powerful your weapon is, the bigger the dice you roll to increase the probability of success.

Beyond that, incredibly simple to pick up, and everything seems as though as you'd expect. The machines are NAILS, whereas the Resistance are putty with guns so you really need to capitalise on the heavier weapons.

Definitely worth playing more of, and so I'm very tempted by the big rulebook to play bigger, better games. Let me know if you want a stab, and I'll run you through it Smile

Also, I believe the BRG has models and rules to cover all the movies, so Kyle and Sarah running away a lot is all there, as well as the later battles in the future.
